Access fee to Venice

The Italian government has passed legislation to start charging an access fee to the Ancient City and the smaller lagoon islands of Venice.  This legislation was introduced by Article 1, paragraph 1129, of Law 145 dated 30.12.2018 and established by the Municipality of Venice by means of a regulation passed by the Municipal Council’s resolution no 11 of 26.02.2019 and subsequently amended by the Municipal Council’s resolution no 19 of 28.03.2019.

Unfortunately, we have not yet been given the final information as to when and how this will be applied.  However, it is our understanding that the Access fee to Venice will not exceed €5 (five euros) per person and will commence as from 01st July 2020. Since we do not have final confirmation, we are not in a position to include this fee in our travel tickets.

All bookings which will be made at this stage will be without the Access fee. An email with further information and price which will be applied will be sent at a later stage.

Should you proceed with a booking?

We believe that you should and this should not hinder your travel plans.

If once we inform you about the city tax you do not wish to proceed with the booking, you will be allowed to cancel your ticket without any penalties.
